Receiving regular visits or follow-up
Most of the young people held in juvenile centres receive no visitors at all. Some are there for offences that were never proven; many are there because no adult came forward for them.
We visit on a fixed schedule so that the visits can be relied on. We bring toiletries, books and medicine, sit with the young people who want to talk, and follow up on cases where a child has been held far longer than the law allows.
Where a young person is released with nowhere to go, we work with their family or a partner home to make sure they are not put straight back on the street.
